Taller Salud, Inc. is a community based feminist organization working in the field of women´s health since 1979. We focus our efforts on educational and prevention programs directed at women and girls in the towns of Carolina, Canóvanas, Loíza, Río Grande, Luquillo, Fajardo, and Vieques in the northeast coast of Puerto Rico. Our current programs include HIV/STD prevention, child abuse prevention, sexual aggression prevention, teenage pregnancy and domestic violence prevention, and our Information and Documentation Center.
Our programs work with young women and girls in order to strengthen knowledge and skills related to self esteem, anatomy, sexuality, emotional health, violence prevention strategies, public speaking, and community involvement. Taller Salud also manages a unique community educational resource in our Information Documentation Center. This library is one of the most complete sources in Puerto Rico of current and historical information on women´s rights, reproductive rights, and women´s health. The Center has been available to the general community since 1992, and frequently receives visitors from students and organizations interested in issues affecting women in Puerto Rico.
